Though students find out about fractions prior to the fourth grade, they don't begin working on converting the fractions till fourth grade. Once students master the concept of fractions, they are ready to move on to converting them. When a fraction has any numerator that remains larger other than the denominator, it is called an improper fraction. This fraction need to be converted to some mixed amount.
1 Separate the fraction's numerator via the fraction's denominator.
2 Create the quotient down. This is the whole number part about your mixed number. For example, some fraction regarding 12/11 would have any quotient, or total quantity, about 1, while any fraction of 50/10 would have a quotient about 5.
3 Look at your remainder. Collection the remainder over the original denominator to get the fraction part regarding your issue. For example, one improper fraction of 12/11 would obtain a remainder regarding 1 so the fraction part of the answer would be 1/11.
Not all improper fractions need any remainder. For example, 50/10 would simply alter to 5.
4 Compose the complete quantity also the fraction jointly to form your mixed number. For example, an improper fraction of 12/11 would equal some mixed number of 1-1/11.
